We rent an apartment located in the very heart of Vedado:

50 meters from the Malecon, less than 500 meters from

the main hotels, grocery stores and jazz clubs

in El Vedado, just over 1 kilometer

away from the University of Havana, and less than

3 kilometers away from Old Havana. The famous “López Serrano” building

(a classic of Havana’s Art Deco) looks overwhelming from the living-dining room window.

The place is a completely independent apartment a the top-floor of a three-story building; it is NOT an area

inside a bigger house. The University of Havana is at a 20-minute walk; "La Zorra y el Cuervo" world-class jazz

club is at a 15-minute walk, the world-known Malecon (Havana seashore) is almost across the street, as well as

the US embassy. The corner of 23 and L --the mecca of Havana cinema festivals-- is also at 15-minute walk. Several

hotels and restaurants are below those distances, as well as travel agencies. Old Havana is somewhat farther away,

but still reachable by feet. The headquarters of the Cuban National Ballet is also at a 15-minute walk. Kids can

enjoy puppet theater (in Spanish) at the National Guinol Theatre, less than 10-minute walk from the place. Cell

phone services are just at the same distance... and a good-quality WiFi network can be accessed from a park almost

around the corner of the apartment! The place is located in a safe neighborhood, although some extra safety measures

are taken, as a steel fence besides the door. While books play a leading role in the dining-living room, there is also

a small TV set. The kitchen includes a two-place gas stove, a perfectly working, "classical" fridge from the 1950's,

and a microwave oven --besides a basic set of kitchen hardware. There is a phone line with two phone sets --a wireless

one based in the bedroom. The bedroom has a 12 000 BTU, split-type air conditioner, able to refresh the whole appartment, provided all windows are closed, and the kitchen is not in use. There is also an electric fan that can be moved around the apartment.

In the bathroom, In the bathroom, there is cold and hot water.

Pick up at the airport for just 25 CUC is provided on request,

as well as a ride back to the airport at the end of the visit

for a similar price.
